Jonah's firsts

Somewhere yesterday between hotels, airports, airplanes, and home, Jonah got his first tooth! And as you can see he is also learning how to use a cup. These days he spends most of his time being frustrated because he can't do the things he wants. He is very close to crawling and tries to pull up on everything. He may very well go straight to walking. The next month should be full of firsts!

bedtime story

My parents are with us in SC and we have adjoining rooms at the hotel. Clay and I were out to dinner so my parents put the boys to bed in our room. Jackson in his usual fashion started yelling "Grandpa, I'm all done". After a few times, they told him not to yell Grandpa anymore. The next thing they hear is Jackson yelling "Mark"! He is our constant source of entertainment.

Our drama star

If you haven't been paying attention to the weather, it's been in the 80's here for the last week and even hit 90 a couple of days. So on Friday we're walking out the garage to the van which is parked in the driveway. I'm loading Jonah up and Jackson is suppose to be getting in on his side, but he has stopped at the edge of the garage and is whining something that I can't understand and won't come out. Finally he walks out to his side of the van and I go around to find out what the problem is. When I ask him, he says in his most dramatic voice ever.... "The Sun is Burning Me!" I half expected him to put the back of his hand to his forehead and throw himself on the ground.

Little does he know that is something he better get use to. We leave for SC on Wednesday. Jackson says he's going on airplane to go to the beach.

Egg, Eggs, and More Eggs

Our annual Easter egg hunt is tomorrow. This year they are having it at the Kansas Speedway with over 75,000 eggs being hunted (yes, you read that right) as well as inflatable slides, games, food, etc. We had an egg stuffing party with 10 of my friends coming over and stuffing 7 boxes like the one seen in the picture plus Jackson and I did 2 more boxes by ourselves. Jackson was a big help. I would open the eggs and he would put the candy in them. He never even ate any of the candy though he is asking daily when the egg hunt is! Wish us luck tomorrow with the crowd and the hyped up children! 

quote of the day

Jackson was playing on the little step outside the back door while Clay and I were eating dinner. He comes running in and and says "coo, coo... it sounds like a mourning dove!"

morning exercises

Yes, they do watch EVERYTHING you do. Jackson informs us this morning that he is doing his "situps" and we must watch him! He's got pretty good form for a 2 year old. He is now holding on to the back of my chair and doing different leg lifts while pretending to be the aerobics leader... "circle your legs like this" :)

Happy Tuesday! 

I got a glimpse into our future of living by the beach and it was not pretty. Jackson played aggressively in a friend's sandbox this morning. He had sand in his hair and caked to his head. We had to come home and get in our shower to scrub his head. The good news is he won't need to exfoliate for awhile! I only wish I had the camera with me. If anyone has ideas about how to avoid this in the future, I would appreciate you sharing them.

Jonah celebrates opening day. He went to bed a little sad that the Royals lost but happy the Astros won.
